My Inspiration
I was outside cleaning my yard when I remember spotting a few red raspberries from my deck. As I approach my patch, I realize there are more than I thought and they are bigger than I could have imagined! As I am picking them, I am careful of the thorns on the canes. Years of picking raspberries has made it second nature to obtain my treasures without injury. But I remember what it's like first learning about this fruit. It wasn't in a classroom, but instead in my grandmother's raspberry patch. She tended and cared for those tender treasures for years. I spent many summers eating berries and putting bandaids on my scrapes and scratches. That made me think of residential school. The promise that was made to parents and grandparents, the ones that were told in deceit. So. Here it is. My thoughts and feelings.
